Nursery
Plans and experiences for babies are designed around routines such as meal and nappy change times, sleep and settling routines. These experiences will be very individualised, and usually focused on one-to-one interactions between the baby and the educator.
When planning for babies, our staffs will work closely together with the families to understand what is important in assisting their child to settle happily into our service while developing their skills. Other experiences involve music, talking, singing and reading to babies, building their foundation skills for literacy. Body movement activities such as rolling and practising standing will also help their physical development.
Toddler
Our Toddlers programs are focussed on developing and practicing self-help skills and daily tasks, as well as communicating and socialising with other children and our staffs. Through our free and structured play-based activities, toddlers can practice learning to take turns, self-expression, collaborate on larger games, and development of social and communication skills. Experiences are designed to best suit toddlers’ interests and abilities and our staffs will act as guides to help children to negotiate with others and to express their emotions appropriately
The Kindergarten Program
Learning in the kindergarten is a multi faceted, interactive and hands on experience for the children. The educators are in the program to supervise and support the children’s learning. The following are elements of learning in the program:
Social & Emotional Wellbeing
Social & emotional wellbeing is the utmost important element to begin with in the program. The children are at the centre of their own learning. Hence, the way each child feels and interact matters. We aim to have children to arrive at the room, feeling safe and ready to engage in the different learning experiences with their friends. We have a daily rhythm that supports the children’s energy, predictability and level of engagement throughout the day. It gives them a sense of predictability as to what will happen next throughout the day
We encourage and support children to develop their own emotional literacy. We encourage each child to explore their feelings that they have because when they are heard, the educators will be able to provide them with help. Through the educators observation and we aim to empower each child to their own journey of self regulation, resilience, empathy and kindness to the people around them.
Inquiry Based Learning
We have a topic of inquiry that is led by the children’s interest. This will be the focus of learning and exploration for the children. We use play to help children explore their own learning . We encourage children to always come together to share about what they discovered giving them a chance to learn from each other. While learning about the topic of inquiry , the children will explore the following areas of learning:
Moving in Big and Small ways
- Motor-sensory development
Numeracy and Literacy
- Develop Mathematical Thinking
- Pre-literacy behaviours and skills
Scientific Learning
- Develop scientific thinking
Sustainability
- Caring for our environment
- & making a difference
Community Engagement
From time to time, we will go on excursions with aims to extend our learning in the community. This provides children with some real life engagement with the community around us. Through activities in the community we invite children to learn about the broader community and to explore our agency in the community we live in.
